It is a no-brainer that most women on-the-go opt for multi-purpose products to save time in application and space in our purse, much more when they don't break a bank and truly do the job.
That's why Vixen Tints MNL (@vixentintsmnl) caught my attention when I stumbled upon their Instagram. They carry natural lip and cheek gel tints called GEL A TINT.
Ingredients: Xanthan gum, distilled water, vegetable glycerin, cosmetic-grade colorant, natural flavoring and fragrance, phenoxyethanol
They have six shades:⭐ Crimson Curse
⭐ Peach Perfect
⭐ Bare Naked
⭐ Young Blood
⭐ Orange Juice
⭐ Pinky Promise
I got the first four from the list which are their best sellers.
(L-R: Peach Perfect, Crimson Curse, Bare Naked, Young Blood)
What I think about them?
The packaging is a plastic tube with a black cover that holds the doe-foot applicator. Although roller tints are a thing now, I still prefer this as I have more control on the amount of product to apply and I can reach the corner of my lips easily. It also has a plastic "stopper" on top of the tube so it doesn't spill and manage how much product to dispense. Looking for the shade is a breeze since it is clearly indicated on the lower part of the sticker logo, shown behind the "Gel A Tint" label, and somehow visible on the dark tube as well.
It's a gel tint, definitely the consistency is not watery. Blendability and buildability is not an issue -- I blend by just putting my upper and lower lip together. Pigmentation is impressive for a tint. One stroke leaves an opaque stain, let alone two to three swipes, which can give a hue I can compare to some of my liquid lipsticks. Below are one-layer only swatches, except for young blood which I piled two glides to see if it's buildable.
Peach Perfect
Crimson Curse
Bare Naked
Young Blood
It has a mild fruity scent and flavor, not too overpowering that you can taste it when you tend to lick your lips. It lasts for about 6-8 hours on me, sometimes longer, depending on what and how often you eat or drink. These tints didn't dry out my lips as well. No problem with using this as a cheek tint either, it doesn't dry too fast, doesn't leave unflattering patches on cheeks and okay, you've said it -- "blendable". 😊
Short story and lesson: on my first try, it left an uneven and blotchy stain on my upper lip so I tried another layer but didn't worked out well. What I did was, I put on lipbalm, let it sit overnight, and gently exfoliated afterwards. Lo and behold, it gave a nice and solid color on my lips just as above. You can also create a gradient lip effect by applying only on your inner lips. 😉
